About Colusa
Colusa, the county seat of Colusa County, covers an area of 3.42 square miles. The city sits along the Sacramento River about 65 miles northwest of Sacramento.
The city is home to the Colusa County Fairgrounds, which hosts lots of family-friendly activities, including the county fair, livestock auctions, 4th of July fireworks, the Holiday Craft Faire, the Pumpkin Village, and the Farm Show.
Originally called Salmon Bend, the area that is now Colusa was once part of the Rancho Colus Mexican land grant. The city was named Colusa in 1854. When the Southern Pacific Railroad was established in the area, Colusa continued to grow. Colusa was incorporated as a city in 1868. The city has a population of 5,971 people, according to the 2010 Census.
